Let me say from the off that this isn’t the old DBF we knew and loved - it’s not for sigma hunters, although you will get sigma. It’s more a protection method for your shares or an attack tool for those you dislike! It finds dead blogs(and ALT-URL redirects) from a list.

Things you need:

• Self-Owns script -OR- Ideas Tool -OR- access to IRC
• FTP access to a webhost -OR- access to a blog page

Things you do:

• make a list of blogs from your(or someone else’s) portfolio using the Self-Own script.
• FTP the list to your website -OR- paste the code to a blog post.
• Go to this page and input the address of the list.
• Check off the results with your list, reporting/modifying as necessary.

If you don’t have access to FTP or a blog of your own you can also come to IRC and use stud to FTP a whole industry list to my site, just use the actual URL (not the tinyurl) on the link checker page. I’m sure the IMs would appreciate the cleaning help.

If you find the link checker page is slow or offline you can use the W3C hosted version.

If you want a top 2000 list from an industry you can use the Ideas Tool to make that and upload in the same manner as above.
